Met promises more bobbies on the beat
The Metropolitan Police has promised more officers in local areas as part of a wide-ranging review.
In a recent survey that Wandsworth Lib Dems carried out with thousands of local residents, police visibility was identified as the number one issue that local police should be tackling.
In response, your local Lib Dem reps attended a special Met meeting in July and made that point directly to Wandsworth’s most senior police officers, including Detective Chief Superintendent Clair Kelland and Wandsworth Superintendent David Bannister. It is something they have promised to tackle.
There are typically three officers assigned to each ward, but they are often pulled off that work in order to join response teams across London.
It’s something local officers don’t like and their commanders have promised to change the system as part of an effort to improve their service to Londoners.
It should mean you see your local police officers more often. We are carefully tracking progress.
