Kieren McCarthy
Favourite thing about Wandsworth:
The energy and diversity.
Why I’m a LibDem:
The party's core belief in empowering individuals within society - from spreading power across the country to lifting barriers to equality - has meant that it is consistently thinking ahead of the other political parties.

Bio
Kieren McCarthy is a journalist, author and policymaker, specialising in the internet. As executive director of international non-profit IFFOR, he has been responsible for developing and implementing content policies for internet registries, as well as developing an educational course on online sexual content.
Previously, Kieren worked for a range of news publications as well as international organisations, including internet oversight organisation ICANN and online tech news site The Register. He was news editor of Techworld, and has worked as a freelance journalist for publications including The Guardian, The Times, New Scientist and New Statesman.
He is currently a non-executive director of .uk registry operator Nominet.
Kieren believes there needs to be significant shift in how politics works in the modern digital era: "People feel more annoyed and disconnected than ever over how society is run. Politics remains an exclusive club when it should be the opposite; everyone should feel they can have an effective say in the larger issues that impact their lives."
