Tackling issues in Thamesfield

Nestled next to the Thames, Thamesfield is a wonderful part of Putney but it has its issues too

  • Hammersmith Bridge has now been closed for SIX YEARS. The impact is constant and daily. It is a purely political problem needing a political solution.
  • Putney High Street remains in a sorry state, with dozens of boarded-up shops, a glut of fast food restaurants, and too few local businesses.
  • Cleaner streets: Every week, rubbish litters our streets, recycling isn’t recycled, rough sleeping rises, and Thames rowers get sick.
  • Safer streets: From shoplifting to parcel theft to threatening and anti-social behaviour, Putney needs some love and attention.
  • Council chaos: The Council is loading up on debt, limiting debate, letting down tenants, ignoring concerns, threatening our parks and more…
Five problems, five solutions

1. Build a new bridge

London is a global city. It’s time to move and replace Hammersmith Bridge with a modern structure that can take traffic.

2. Buy local, back Putney

Other High Streets are thriving - ours can too. Energy, focus, community effort and backing local business

3. Hold orgs to account

We’ve been let down by poor contracts and lazy councillors. Let’s put some pride back into Putney.

4. Reset policing in Putney

We know what the problems are and what the solutions can be to crime and ASB. Let’s work more closely together to solve them.

5. Elect a local champion

Lib Dems believe listening should be the first step, not the last. Transparent, accountable and open to compromise.
