Sue Wixley
Standing for Merton and Wandsworth
Sue is standing to be a Constituency London Assembly member (Merton & Wandsworth constituency) and a London-wide Assembly member on 2 May.
Having lived in Southfields for more than a decade with her husband, Sue is very active in the local community, for example helping to set up the Recycle More Southfields initiative. With a day job at a global environmental charity, Sue also serves on the trustee board of a Wandsworth charity.
1. Fix the Met
We need to rebuild the Met with a clear focus on what matters to Londoners – better local policing to prevent and solve crimes, and rebuilding relationships with the community.
2. Clean up our rivers
We need to stop sewage dumping in the Thames, Wandle and other rivers. We need to ensure better monitoring of water companies and make sure that the fines they pay are invested in improving London’s water quality.
3. Save Wimbledon Park
I oppose the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s plans to concrete over a substantial part of Metropolitan Open Land at Wimbledon Park, causing 8 years of disruption and resulting in the loss of hundreds of mature trees. AELTC needs to go back to the drawing board.
4. Fight for the rights of EU citizens
Brexit has been a disaster for London’s economy and damaged London’s reputation as a welcoming city. The Liberal Democrats will introduce a ‘London passport’ to help EU citizens provide proof to landlords and employers of their right to remain. We want to pilot a London Erasmus-style programme for young people across the capital.
