Support the People's Vote

Lib Dems urge Wandsworth MPs to get behind a People's Vote and give voters a final say on the UK's deal with the EU including the option of no Brexit. 

Mark Gitsham, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Battersea, commented  "the Government is in meltdown and the Prime Minister's deal, which is unlikely to be passed, offers us the worst of both worlds. The only way out of this political chaos is to return the decision to the people". 

Wandsworth Liberal Democrats have been campaigning against Brexit across the three local constituencies of Battersea, Putney and Tooting, with street stalls, door-to-door canvassing and petitions. Across the country, the Liberal Democrats have seen a surge in membership in recent weeks from voters who are worried about the future of this country and no longer feel represented by the Conservative and Labour parties. 

Liberal Democrat Tooting spokesperson Olly Glover says "Now that Labour MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan has finally come out in support of a People's Vote, it is vital that we keep up the pressure on the wider Labour Party, as their policy of prioritising a General Election is fuelling the political and economic instability which is so damaging our country and its international reputation."

Commenting on Putney MP Justine Greening's stated support for Brexit, Liberal Democrat Putney spokesperson Ryan Mercer said: "The Conservative party has consistently disregarded the damaging impact Brexit will have on Putney and London. After enormous local pressure our local MP, Justine Greening, has changed her tune but still damagingly voted for Britain to leave the single market and the customs union. The Liberal Democrats will be keeping up the pressure for a People’s Vote and an Exit from Brexit on our MP here in Putney, and across the country."

The Liberal Democrats are the only national party that have been campaigning against Brexit from the start.
